On December 2 of every year, the UAE celebrates its National Day and the anniversary of the establishment of the Union in 1971. On this national occasion, government and private departments are closed on December 2 and 3.

The slogan “Spirit of the Union” was adopted to be the official slogan for celebrations on the National Day of the United Arab Emirates, and it was circulated to be the official slogan for all events in all the emirates of the country. The logo design was derived from the vision of the founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him.
